Education
Education in CT is influenced by both the federal, state, and local programs and funding. This page will include both primary and secondary education information. CT enjoys some of the highest education achievements in Math, Science, and Reading in the nation. We have a highly educated population which is essential to attract business. We competed with 60 nations around the globe in the Program for International Assessment (PISA) testing, achieving 5th in reading, 8th in science, and average performance with our peers in math. Recent investments in low performing school systems will improve overall CT education performance. CT considers education a priority. Those states that cut their education budgets undermine education reforms and create barriers to deliver quality education as well long-term negative impact on economic competitiveness.

Schools are funded with a combination of state dollars as well as local dollars via our property taxes. The October 2014 report "K-12 Funding Still Below Pre-Recession Levels in Most States" link is provided.

Student Loan Forgiveness
"Borrowers may be eligible for forgiveness of the federal student loans used to attend a school if that school misled them or engaged in other misconduct in violation of certain laws. This type of loan forgiveness is called “borrower defense to repayment,” sometimes abbreviated to “borrower defense.”
Other forgiveness programs can be found on the Federal Student Aid government site.
If you are employed by a government or not-for-profit organization, you may qualify for loan forgiveness.
