Fracking
Hydralic fracturing is a method of removing oils or gases from beneath the surface. It is very destructive, uses large amounts of fresh water, and uses toxic chemicals in the process. Water contamination is difficult to prove because it is illegal to ask what chemicals the frackers are using in their process. They exempted Fracking companies from the Clean Water Act in 2005. Fracking is banned in Vermont and Maryland.
